The University Grants Commission (UGC) a statutory Organization of the Government of India has released draft guidelines on the recognition of colleges.
According to UGC Chairman Professor M Jagadesh Kumar, no foreign HEIs can conduct programmes in India without obtaining prior approval from the Commission.
The Delhi High Court in its order has said the UGC to take appropriate necessary actions against the Universities and colleges offering unspecified degrees.
