no one knows more about regulating wall street than you of. can you see the giveaways to wall street? here for the president, he is doing the right thing as opposed to the republicans. in the republican budget, there three attacks on the effort to provide financial. they are underfunding the secures and exchange commission. he proposed increases for the securities and exchange commission and the commodities exchange commission. we have unregulated derivatives the bill allowed for the regulation, but thot without money. they have also tried to undermine the consumers and trying to limit their spending. it will be small dollars a couple hundred million dollars. relatively small in a budget of over a trillion. the president in his budget does provide the funding for the
regulatory agencies one of the fights with the republicans are trying to rederegulate derivatives and 1207 investments and undermine consumer protection by denying the funds. the president s budget is obviously dead-on arrival in a republican house of representatives and the budget will be dead-on,a rifle wherever it goes to the senate if it passes. where should the veto line be in negotiating with the republican house on these budgets? certainly you cannot be going lower in the areas he has been. i stress the financials. i hope he will make it clear that they have to have the regulatory authority. the problem frankly is the republican leadership has dissolved. the republican leadership is now
negotiating tool. isn t he? there things i disagree with on the budget, particularly the low income heating assistance. the president is being the president. he has to come up with something credible before the people of the country and think he has done that. when you look at the republicans, they made a huge mistake. they spent their entire time fighting about abortion and health care and haven t done a thing about jobs or balancing the budget. they come up with the list and it s the hate list they hate the environment and they cut that. they don t like people who don t vote for them so they cut black colleges they don t have a budget plan and they know that. the president has to have a plan. this is a plan and it s a little top heavy in defense frankly. for $2.5 billion uf the budget, it will not be notice and will keep people warm in their homes the president has done something that has to be done
