Matthew Wilson is a native of Tuscaloosa, Alabama. He is the the third child of David and Patricia A. Wilson. He was called into ministry at the age of nine and has been actively engaged in ministry for over 25 years. He graduated from Central High School with Honors. He furthered his Education to Stillman College Tuscaloosa, Alabama where he received his Bachelor’s Degree in Religion and Philosophy with a Minor in Psychology.
Days after the Tuscaloosa City Council’s District 1 got its first candidate, a new challenger has emerged.
The Rev. Matthew Wilson, who has represented District 1 on the city’s Board of Education for the past four years, has announced his intention to transition to the City Council in 2021.
“I want to see a safe District 1,” said Wilson, 38, “and I want to continue to see premier education for our children.
“I want to be the voice for al District 1. Red, yellow, black and white – we are all precious.”
Wilson, who was recently battling the effects of a COVID-19 infection, said he planned to qualify for the City Council’s District 1 seat on Friday, the actual birthdate of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
