Wynton Marsalis To Headline Performance In Remembrance Of Tulsa Race Massacre Centennial
Legendary jazz musician and composer Wynton Marsalis and his Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra will lead a performance of his epic blues suite, All Rise (Symphony No. 1) at 3 p.m. June 6 at the BOK Center in Tulsa, alongside the Tulsa Symphony and Festival Chorus and produced in alliance with the Tulsa Race Massacre Commission.
David Robertson will conduct the performance, and Damien L. Sneed will lead the chorus. The McKnight Center for the Performing Arts in Stillwater has announced some heavy-hitting acts for its 2021-2022 season lineup, including country music star Tim McGraw and Broadway icon Bernadette Peters.
Any performance at Oklahoma State University’s McKnight Center is worth attending because the facility is so impressive, with excellent acoustics and a beautiful setting. It’s wonderful to see the performing arts returning thanks to vaccines and a drop in COVID-19 numbers. While the center kept some performances going, seating capacity was limited.
