Bentley Companies named master developer for Tremont Nail

After minimal additional discussion during the board’s April 27 meeting, the Board of Selectmen voted to approve awarding Bentley Companies the title of master developer for the Tremont Nail Factory property.
Bentley Companies, a Rhode Island-based operation, presented its vision for the Tremont site to the Wareham Redevelopment Authority and to the Board of Selectmen earlier this year. In mid-March, the Redevelopment Authority recommended that the selectmen choose Bentley Companies as master developer for the site.
Bentley Companies’ plan envisions the site with office space, retail establishments and a brewery or restaurant of some sort. The developer’s vision also includes a waterfront community park complete with a pier, boardwalk and kayak rentals. ....

Planning Board talks zoning articles for May 8 Town Meeting

A number of zoning changes are on the warrant for the Town Meeting scheduled for Saturday, May 8.
The Planning Board held public hearings about the bulk of those changes on April 12, but no members of the public participated.
Rezoning Wareham Village
The proposed changes to the Wareham Village zoning district, which stretches along Main Street from Tremont Nail to the Zecco Marina, are meant to foster redevelopment of the village while preserving its character and especially encouraging small business uses through mixed-use zoning.
Mixed use zoning allows a variety of uses, including retail, residential, office, entertainment, and culture to fit together in a single environment. Outdoor space including plazas and parks are also incorporated. ....

WAREHAM - Plans to develop a function center-restaurant, restaurant and ice cream shop on the Wareham River at 59 Main St. got a boost with the Conservation Commission’s unanimous approval of its first phase – a commercial marina.
The Conservation Commission was asked to consider the project, proposed by Danny Warren, from the water or marina side.
The commercial marina plan approved features floating docks along the existing bulkhead with 15 finger piers going out from those floats, including one extending 48 feet into the river and one extending 56 feet. Fourteen slips will be created. It will include 860 linear feet of dock. ....
