Cape Cod Fishing Report – April 22, 2021
Fresh migratory schoolies and tautog will arrive at Buzzards Bay and the south Cape any day now.
Cape Cod Fishing Report
My coworkers are still putting in time on the upper Cape freshwater ponds for the time being. Anthony DeiCicchi continues to pick off largemouth on wakebaits and swimbaits. Tuesday night he went fishing with a friend, George Costa, who caught a 13-inch, 3 pound, personal best bass on a 3-piece rat wakebait.
Jeff, at
Canal Bait and Tackle, says everything is in place for the run of spring stripers at Buzzards Bay and the Canal. Schoolie bass could show up on any tide in the next week. For the Canal, Jeff recommends Savage Sand Eels weighing 3 to 5 oz. in herring color. If you plan on fishing the Cape estuaries, small paddle tails are a wise choice. He says it’s a good idea to stock up on tackle now because it’s going to be difficult to find gear come May. There were reports of tautog in the west end of the Canal.
