Junkyard landscaping. lighthouse renovations. saddle tree factory reservation. battleship texas restoration. but none of these projects got transportation funds. mitch mcconnell and rand paul complained about turtle tunnels in florida. the truth is very different. culverts were built on either side of u.s. 27 so drivers would not swerve to avoid turtles, alligators, beavers and other wildlife crossing the road. there was also the lie about 10% of funds going to the transportation enhancements. and by mandating that 10% of highway funds have to be spent on non-highway needs at a time when our country is running massive deficits. that s 2%, not 10%. most of it goes for bicycle and pedestrian projects. ....

pain of the unemployed temporarily. some will put people back to work. but they do not make for a complete solution. yet it s a start. as long as congress passes the bill. while the politicians bicker, many americans have no place to live. as many as 1 million people may have become homeless during the recent recession. with some living in tent cities like this one near st. petersburg, florida. these are people who used to have solid, middle-class jobs. what s more, almost half of america s unemployed have been out of work for six months or longer. they are in danger of becoming a lost generation. losing the skills and motivation to ever reach their potential. but we need more than temporary tax cuts and extensions of unemployment. we need a plan to grow industries and with them, jobs. in this hour, we ll shine a light on solutions. immediate and long-term. but our focus is on stuff that can actually happen. plans, not dreams. we ll look at promising industries and idea ....

We have a federal interstate highway system that was built from the 50s onward, that has gotten little or no money for maintenance. we have bridges that have long passed their intended life span, that are ready to fall down, and engineers know about it. but have hidden the truth from the public about how dangerous why? why hide the truth? well, it basically comes down for politicians applying transportation funds for new projects, which gives them wonderful photo ops, but they don t like to apply money to the underside of a bridge, even though they know it s in dire shape. inform me, though, how many bridges are we talking about? on the scale of what actually exists in american infrastructure, what percentage of them, what number of them are at risk? we all hear the statistics, that there are 150,000 bridges in this nation, out of 600,000 total that are either functionally obsolete or ....
