Gov. Kemp we experienced Severe Weather last night with tornadoes touching down. There are currently 59,000 georgians without power. We have 49 injured, 23 homes that were destroyed, 59 other homes had minor damage, and 248 homes waiting to be assessed. So far we have concerned seven georgians have lost their life to this terrible storm in my thoughts and prayers go out. Given the widespread impact, i have declared a state of emergency this morning for all 159 counties to facilitate the deployment of critically needed resources across our state. Gema, theation with department of Natural Resources, the department of transportation and the georgia 43 commission are all working hard to restore power, clear debris and provide assistance to the families in need.
