History team, goodbye. hello, there, and a very merry christmas to you. we have seen a band of rain and hill snow working its way northwards across the country to end christmas day and into the early hours of boxing day. most of the rain and hill snow will become confined to the north of the country, certainly across scotland through the day, and then we will see something a bit brighter with some showers following in across the south. this weather front has continued to journey northwards. as it bumped into the cold air which has been sitting across the north and east of the country, that is where we had the rain turn to snow initially, across the hills of north wales, north midlands and also northern ireland, ....
That wasn t enough, across scotland, colder air and particularly later today, tonight and tomorrow, some rain will turn to snow and it could cause some issues as we had to sunday. high pressure in the south, low pressure to the north west, driving this weather front end. that is what is bringing the wet and windy weather. the cold air pushed in behind the feature and we start to see rain turn to snow. we have a little bit of snow across the high ground in scotland right now. but we won t last long because we have some slightly milder air pushing in so much of that will turn back to rain as we go through this morning. rain moves into northern ireland and across england, wales, the northern west midlands. that leaves a large part of the south and is of a country, a sunny start, the weather will client black cloud over but the wind is coming from the south west so it is actually quite mild. eight degrees in belfast, tend ....

Outbreaks of rain. as these weather fronts slowly push north eastwards into that stubborn area of colder air which is sitting to the north east of the country, then this is where we re likely to see some of that rain turn to snow. so, we re starting christmas day morning off on a very cold, frosty note across scotland, the far north of england, but less cold, milder for northern ireland in towards wales and the south west. but here, we have more of the cloud, outbreaks of rain, which will be slowly spilling northwards and eastwards through the course of the day. quite a bit of cloud for most of england but the far north of england, scotland off that cold, frosty start, will be dry and sunny throughout the day. maybe just the odd wintry shower around, some patchy cloud, but it will be windy, particularly across the northern half of the country, as you can see here. these are the mean wind speeds. so, when you factor in the wind with that cold air, it really will feel chilly colder tha ....
