Toryglen McDonald's opening date revealed as late hours licence granted in Glasgow

Licensing chiefs handed a late hours catering licence to the franchisee, AG Restaurants, this week. It will allow the drive-through restaurant, in the car park of the Toryglen Asda, to open 24 hours a day. Lindsay Robinson, the solicitor representing AG Restaurants, said the opening hours would allow McDonald’s to “support the workers of the night-time economy in the local area”. This will include taxi drivers, emergency services workers and hospital shift workers, she said. Ms Robinson revealed the Prospecthill Road restaurant will open on July 7, but an environmental health inspection is required beforehand. An environmental health spokeswoman told the licensing committee they had been unable to visit as the premises was under construction. They are arranging an inspection with the restaurant.

Two in Royal Infirmary after Aikenhead Road crash with police car

Man and woman in hospital after South Side crash involving police car closes road TWO people have been taken to hospital following a crash between a car and a police vehicle. Emergency services raced to Aikenhead Road, close to Cathcart Police Office, after reports of the two vehicle collision. A man and a woman, both aged 32, were taken from the scene to Glasgow Royal Infirmary. One of the vehicles appeared to also collide with a traffic island at what is a busy junction near both Hampden Park and Toryglen Asda. Aikenhead Road is currently closed northbound at Prospecthill Road and will stay closed while police recover the crashed vehicle.

Pro-IRA graffiti on Glasgow Orange Lodge slammed

By Glasgow Times Reporter Graffiti on a Glasgow Orange Order hall has been slammed as horrendous .  The Parkhead building on Quarryknowe Street was targeted in an act of overnight vandalism.  The sectarian graffiti reads: The IRA will always be around. Another wall was painted to say Six million Jews and it should have been Protestants .  It is understood the vandalism has been reported to the police.  Some appalling racist and sectarian graffiti appeared in Glasgow overnight.
