Town council will be updating cemetery bylaw

During the Town of Peace River regular council meeting that took place on Feb. 8 included discussions about the approval of Bylaw No. 2082, which is a bylaw for the maintenance, management, control, and operation of the Town of Peace River’s Mount Pleasant Cemetery. This information was presented as a request for decision to council.
Jim McCuiag, Director of Engineering and Infrastructure presented to Mayor Tom Tarpey and Council this request for decision regarding Bylaw No. 2082. This bylaw discusses the maintenance and operations of Mount Pleasant Cemetery and at the time of the meeting had 3 bylaws associated with it and Bylaw No. 2082 would replace these 3 bylaws. These bylaws are older and outdated. The document provided to council stated that one of these bylaws was undated, the second dated for 1991, and the third was 2015. ....

During the Town of Peace River Governance and Priorities meeting that took place on Dec. 7,  council received a letter from a community member regarding flooding from Pat’s Creek.
Gordon Troup, a concerned community member, had written a letter to council stating that Pat’s Creek has flooded three times in the last eight years and the letter explained in depth flood protection and preparedness and that he believed that it was not being properly dealt with. ....
