United States’s National Guard’s Captain Tinashe T. Machona, the District of Columbia National Guard spokesperson last night became the voice of the United States military in the country’s coup attempt by the out-going United States President’s supporters.
About 1,100 troops from the D.C. National Guard and 650 from Virginia were deployed in Washington on Wednesday night, a National Guard spokesman said Wednesday night.
“The entire D.C. National Guard has been mobilized and is prepared to support law enforcement officers in various locations in the city to protect property, allowing federal and local law enforcement officers to do law-enforcement missions,” Capt. Tinashe T. Machona, a spokesman for the D.C. Guard, said in a statement. ....

DC National Guard changing vest colors from camo to black for protests

Members of the D.C. National Guard are wearing black vests instead of their typical camouflage vests during pro-Trump protests in Washington, D.C., this week.
The D.C. National Guard announced they will be switching their vest colors from Jan. 5 to 7 as thousands of the president s supporters flock to the city to protest Congress s certification of President-elect Joe Biden
D.C. National Guard spokesperson Capt. Tinashe T. Machona said the change in colors highlights a different mission from the camouflage vests and are typically worn for domestic support operations, such as the response to protests against police brutality and racism in the city last summer. ....

DC National Guard wear black vests to send message as Trump supporters protest Electoral College certification


National Guard members in Washington, D.C., will wear black vests – in place of their usual camouflage ones – on Wednesday as crowds have already begun to gather to show their support for President Trump before the newly sworn-in Congress is expected to officially certify Electoral College votes in the final step before President-elect Joe Biden is sworn in on Jan. 20.
The black identification vests are meant to highlight a different mission for D.C. National Guard, spokesman Capt. Tinashe T. Machona told Fox News. It is the traditional uniform worn during domestic support operations, including presidential inaugurations, the 4th of July celebration, response to the COVID-19 pandemic, and the 57th anniversary of the March on Washington last year. It is not body armor or a tactical vest. ....

Murphy reminds Defense leaders that forces in DC protests must visibly ID themselves


“We all must ensure the safety of Americans who gather to peacefully exercise their constitutional rights,” he wrote.

The legislation Murphy referred to which was included in the fiscal 2021 National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) passed Jan. 1 requires members of the armed forces and federal law enforcement personnel responding to civil disturbances to clearly identify which department they represent. 
The new law was included in the NDAA following the presence of unmarked federal law enforcement officers in the capital this summer used to address protests over racial injustice.
The security personnel, who were dressed in paramilitary uniforms and wore no identifying insignia or name badges, would not tell journalists and protesters which agency they worked for. Some would only say they worked for the federal government while others identified themselves as employed by the Justice Department. ....
