jose. he had a broken leg and possibly facial injuries. they were non-life-threatening. this all began sometime around 1:0 or so. that s when chp got 1:30 or so when chp got reports of ice on the road in both directions on 880 at bascomb. somebody was having problems with a tire. the chp responded. he was outside of his vehicle and was hit by an oncoming pickup truck. he was knocked into the shoulder and that where ended up in the hospital there. but they shut down the freeway in both directions for about three hours and quite a mess out here in west san jose. but everything is back to normal now. but again, this is kind of a strange sight to see all this ice pellets about the size of an eighth of an inch across here in san jose. so we ll monitor the situation and have more for you from the chp in the next half hour. kiet that video looks like it might have been up in the sierra instead of in the south bay. reporter: yeah. this is interesting to say the least for sure
it is a story that is new tonight. ken wayne is life in the hospital with the latest on the four injured. julie, it s raining right now but weather had nothing to do with this crash. that 23-year-old mother and two children ages 2 and 6 are being treated here at santa rosa memorial hospital tonight. another child was air lifted to oakland and that mother who was behind the wheel is under arrest. the helicopter air lifted a 12-year-old girl to hospital. she was the most seriously injured in this cash that sent an suv over the guardrail and down an enbankment. that girl and a 6-year-old girl were ejected along with the driver. a 6-year-old boy remained in the vehicle strapped to a child seat. police say it s amazing no one was killed. looking at the speed and the damage, i m sure it was a significant trauma to the kids and the mom was in pretty bad shape too because she got ejected into the roadway. reporter: the woman was confronted earlier this evening by her husband
