MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (WMBF) - Just in time for tourism season, the City of Myrtle Beach may see some construction of new hotels.
But theyâre not traditional hotels. Rather, itâs a new take on short-term rentals.
The city council hopes projects like it will bring a new image and vision to the area known as the âBack Streets.â
patty. reporter: we are live off of the junction of 80 where crews are still going through the rooms of this motel 6 that was in the line of a grass fire that was whipped along by today s strong winds. the fire started at 7:00 just off of the road. according to the chief, it burned a acre and moved fast much the embers caught the roof and the attic of the hotel on fire. that s when crews went door to door to get the guests out. the manager of the motel 6 says it was 95% full at the time. a lot of guests had to leave their bags behind. we talked to one couple who could only stop as crews put the blaze out of their room. the second story right here with the door open right there, we seen flames coming. i mean it was pretty hot. it was getting hot. what did you do? started packing up stuff. she ran downstairs and i ran out with everything. it was like a big fire storm. reporter: there were no injuries from the fire today. but one of the guests who was escaping from thi
