When the Election Commission of India on June 5 released the results of the elections, held from April 19 to June 1, to choose the 543-member Parliament, the hopes of the ruling BJP for a larger majority for Modi s third term were dashed. The BJP decreased its representation to 240 seats, down from 303 in 2019.The BJP will now have to form a new government with other partners in its coalition, the National Democratic Alliance (NDA).
