Did you know that the U.S. has averaged more than one and a half mass shootings a day so far this year? I know that sounds crazy, but it is true. Monday will be the 200th day of the year, and according to Wikipedia there have been 327 mass shootings up to this point in 2021. And actually the information on Wikipedia does not include all of the most recent mass shootings, and so the true number is actually a little higher. But you can’t really blame Wikipedia, because it is extremely difficult to keep up with all of the mass shootings that are happening these days. In fact, each one barely even makes a blip in the news before the next one happens. We have become a nation that is filled with violence from one end to the other, and many believe that what we have experienced so far is just the beginning.

Two people were shot, said Dustin Sternbeck, a Metropolitan Police Department spokesman. Investigators believe, based on preliminary information, that one of the victims was an employee at the stadium, he said.
Washington police later tweeted that “two additional victims associated with this incident walked into area hospitals for treatment of gunshot wounds.”
More than two dozen police cars, ambulances and fire engines were on the street outside the third base side of the stadium and a police helicopter hovered overhead.

The shooting, an exchange of gunfire between people in two cars, left three people injured, according to Ashan Benedict, the Metropolitan Police Department s executive assistant police chief. One of the people who was shot was a woman who was attending the game and who was struck while she was outside the stadium, he said. Her injuries weren t considered life-threatening.

WASHINGTON, D.C. - The MLB game between the San Diego Padres and Washington was halted in the sixth inning Saturday night after four people were shot outside the stadium in Washington, D.C.
More than two dozen police cars, ambulances and fire engines were on the street outside the third base side of Nationals Park.
Police said that two people were found shot outside the park, and two others with gunshot wounds showed up at the hospital.
The Padres had just taken the field for the bottom of the sixth when several loud pops were heard from the left field side of the ballpark.
At least four people have been injured in a shooting outside of Washington Nationals Park in D.C. Saturday night, according to law enforcement.
The D.C. Metropolitan Police Department announced on Twitter that two people were shot in the 1500 block of South Capitol Street, SW. This is currently an active investigation and it appears there is no ongoing threat at this time,” the Department tweeted.
