andy, thank you. thanks for joining me. i m paula reed in for fredericka witfield. we begin this hour with the u.s. announcing new actions in response to russia s, quote, barbaric and inhumane war in ukraine. vice president kamala harris and the secretary of state meeting with world leaders at the munich security conference today, formally declaring russia has committed crimes against humanity. nick, what are you hearing on the ground? reporter: there is support here in europe sharing that view that russia is committing these crimes against humanity. i think it was encouraging for the audience here in europe to hear that accountability will be held. there is a sense in europe that they need to build a system and a mechanism here in europe and there s talk about doing it in the hague in the netherlands, a traditional place where leaders can be held to account. they have been historically in the past. i think the vice president s words resonating. this is exactly ....
said about six truckloads of soil were headed to michigan. officials in michigan said they never received a warning about those shipments. a representative saying our priority is to keep the people we represent safe. with me now is congresswoman dingle. how did you find out about these reported shipments to your state and what can you do? it began in the grapevine late afternoon yesterday that we have two different sites in my district. one is an injection well, which is accepting liquids. the other is a contamination site in belleville township. i quickly made some calls. the governor was not aware of this either. we spoke to each other very quickly. we learned that the governor of ohio had posted it on his website that they were headed for here. i called everybody. i called the epa, the norfolk southern and demanded answers. we very quickly realized that no one had been given a heads-up that it was coming here. there are issues related to the injection well, specifi ....
some of what we are about to show you is graphic. body cam video showing officer ace preaching with hitter firearms, yanking nichols out of his car. he breaks free from the officers and runs towards his parents home. a struggle ensues after a chase. police then using pepper spray, batons, their fists, their feet to beatnik cols. at one point, he cries out for his mother. mom! mom! mom! video from a pole camera showing the full extent. you see nichols there, who is unarmed, kicked in the face, struck at least nine times in a few minutes. at that point, bloodied and propped up onto a squad car. officers are then seen just standing around, not providing nichols with any potentially lifesaving aid. five former memphis police officers now facing several charges including second-degree murder and kidnapping. and after the release of this video, two shelby county deputies who were also there on the scene have now been put on leave pending an investigation into their con ....
