Desert gales, scoring southern scorching southern california s drought stricken regions. we have rainfall in the forecast which can be for the firefighting efforts, if the rain evaporates before it reaches the ground and we have lightning associated with these storms moving through that can only mean more potential for wild fires and brush fires. this is southern california and you can see the shower and thunderstorm activity we re anticipating going forward over the next 24 hours. i ve seen plenty of tweets of people just being so excited to finally get some rain. remember this is a very very drought stricken state. extreme drought conditions taking place at the moment and we have around 2 to 3 inches of rainfall possible. that s why the national weather service has issued what is flood watches for nevada and california and arizona. unfortunately, too much too quickly take a look at this visual coming out of arizona, they had significant flooding out of that region cause thing ....

Good morning indra petersons. there s a fire risk in the region because there are thunderstorms. people think thunderstorms. great. rain. it s tricky. it s so dry most of the rain evaporates before it hits the ground. what are you left with? the threat of lightning. we call it dry lightning which could set more fires in the region. we talk about low humidity. 22% this morning. that s never a good thing. there will be a little bit more moisture in the air so we could see numbers go up over the next several days. it s only going to last a couple of days. you can see these are only days they will get a chance assuming they don t get dry lightning and more fires out there, these are going to be better days. by the time we go through sunday we ll start seeing warmer temperatures and even 90s out there. that s going to be the concern moving forward. the other story we ve been talking about across the country in the northeast you may have heard about, look at reports of hail and wind damage ....

The storms to become severe. we could see heavy downpours and localized flash flooding. high pressure controls the events in the northeast. out west, it s been relatively quiet but now we re concerned about the danger of fires, a couple popped up over the weekend in california. they were lightning induced fires. we get thunderstorms that development and the air near the surface is so dry all of the rain evaporates before it reaches the ground. you get lightning strikes and with dry conditions, it ignites fires. you see the big area of concern from nevada to california. they have had heat out west. a couple of records in california yesterday and heat advisories in portland, too. everybody is feeling it. suffering a lit bit. thank you. a small nebraska town concerned about illegal ....
