women s rights. that pr campaign is met with lots of skepticism. here the white house is struggling to contain the fall-out of the collapse on president biden s watch. one white house official privately admits, and i m quoting now, our confidence is being questioned. our correspondents are covering it all from the white house to the pentagon to the afghan capital. let s go to our chief correspondent clarissa ward. she s joining us from kabul. there are thousands and thousands of americans and afghans. they are hoping to flee the country but are so fearful of being attacked by taliban fighters on their way to the airport. the taliban just promised what they re calling safe passage to anyone who wants to evacuate. but is that happening? well, what the taliban says it s trying to do, wolf, is present these chaotic scenes that we have seen at the airport where you just have a crush of humanity storming the premises, flooding the runway. but certainly their activities are being

classrooms, many parents are worried that their children, who are too young to be vaccinated, will contract the virus. so in georgia, that fear has become a reality, just two days after starting their school year, more than 100 students at one school in atlanta are now in quarantine after nine students and five staffers tested positive. so cnn s natasha chen is following that story for us. natasha, you have some breaking news about what that school is now discussing. what have you learned? reporter: yeah, alisyn, just within the past hour, we got the update with the number of cases, as of this afternoon. as you mentioned, 14 total cases, more than a hundred students in quarantine. and now, the drew charter school behind us is discussing possibly having mandatory vaccination for staff. the head of school, peter mcknight, told me that about three quarters of the staff were are already vaccinated, but now there s discussion about whether to make that mandatory for all employ
democrats, moderate democrat joe manchin said he would vote with his party to open debate on the bill. cnn chief congressional correspondent manu raju is here. how does this change things? reporter: well, what it means is that democrats will be unified in today s vote but it will still not change the outcome. this bill will be blocked by a republican filibuster. there are 60 votes needed to overcome a filibuster. 50 democrat, 50 republicans and the vote can going to go down, we expect 50-50 but democrats have been furiously trying to win over joe manchin or to make the argument to voters in their view that republicans are blocking the efforts to ease access to voting. that s the political argument that democrats have been trying to make and they re concerned that if manchin were to break ranks it would undercut that argument because republicans could say this is a bipartisan opposition to the democrats bill which they consider a federal takeover of the election. now after
