December sales tax revenue drops for Pasadena, Deer Park in 2020

The Feb. 12 report from the Texas Comptroller’s Office detailed the sales tax money generated during the final month of the holiday shopping season, and it was far from merry in Pasadena and Deer Park.
Pasadena saw its sales tax revenue fall some 10.4 percent compared with the amount brought in over December 2019.
Sales tax revenue reports are issued two months after the fact. The January sales tax revenue report will come out in mid-March.

The start of the holiday shopping season showed a tidy sales tax revenue gift for northern Brazoria County cities, as indicated by recent release of the November revenue report.
The Jan. 8 report from the Texas Comptroller’s Office showed sales tax revenue was up across the board in area municipalities when compared with the same period in 2019.

On the plus side, the Jan. 8 report from the Texas Comptroller’s Office showed the percentage of sales tax revenue in Friendswood, League City, Dickinson and Seabrook all up by double digits compared with the same period in 2019.
