don champion is live in dallas, don? reporter: good afternoon. the usually bustling streets of downtown dallas have been replaced with crime scene tape and grief this midday. behind me is one of the many scenes investigators are combing over in this shooting that the police chief here called an atrocity. [ sirens ] at least one gunman ambushed police officers just after a peaceful protest was ending in downtown dallas.
