ask any teenager and they will tell you getting a driver s license is a big deal. i m excited, yeah. i want to be able to like go places without having to like wait to be driven and just more freedom. important, real important. i mean it s kind of like independence. reporter: with that responsibility comes the potential danger when you add alcohol to the equation. the virginia dmv says in 2010 543 young people between the ages of 15 and 19 were injured in alcohol-related crashes in virginia. i see the reports in the newspaper all the time with kids drinking and driving getting in accidents, late night driving. i ve been pulling those out and have my kids read them to drive it home. reporter: but on july 1st virginia will have zero tolerance for teens who drink and drive. under the new law a teen convicted of drinking and driving would lose their license for a year. everybody shares the road and even if you re driving carefully, i think that s one of the bigg ....
