Recently, a number of professional associations in the country have embarked on strike actions to demand redress of their grievances.
These include the Ghana Association of Medical Laboratory Scientists over the appointment of two medical officers to head the laboratory division of the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital.
The Senior Staff Association of the University of Ghana (SSA-UG) also went on an industrial action on May 18 over the failure of the government to pay arrears of the Tier 2 pension contribution of its members.
Major stakeholders in the country took interest in the turn of events and intervened in order to come up with solutions to enable these workers resume work.

NCBC Seeks Inquiry Into Govt Panel s Recommendation to Exempt IITs From Faculty Quotas
The Commission took cognizance of a complaint which said the recommendation will impact the diversity in the institutions and will be against the spirit of the constitution.

New Delhi: Taking cognizance of a complaint it has received, the National Commission for Backward Classes (NCBC) has sought an inquiry into a government-appointed panel’s recommendation that IITs should be exempt from reservations in faculty appointments.
Indian Express, the Commission had written to the education ministry’s higher education secretary Amit Khare on January 5, seeking a “compliance report” within 15 days of the letterâs receipt. The ministry received the letter on Monday, the newspaper said.
