Photo by Liz Lynch Last August, Niki Mock drove her pickup truck from Bethesda to Southeast Washington, D.C., to deliver five refurbished laptops with web cameras just in time for Jamie Youngblood’s youngest kids to begin remote learning classes. She also brought donated bikes, scooters and clothing to Youngblood’s home. “We were so excited,” says Youngblood, 44, whose nine children range in age from 7 to 25. Mock and Youngblood stayed in touch after that visit and Mock has returned to Youngblood’s home several times, once hauling a sofa bed and a large dining room table that now serves as a remote-learning desk for the six school-age kids, and other times to drop off Halloween costumes and food at Thanksgiving. ....
Tattooed RBG mural in DC criticized Print this article Some residents in Washington, D.C., want to get rid of a mural of late Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg. The mural, created by California artist Jules Muck at the request of Miami-based Murals for Humanity, depicted the late Supreme Court justice with several tattoos on her face, including George Floyd s face, a Vote sticker, and the letters BLM in reference to the Black Lives Matter movement. Muck, who noted she was asked to paint the mural in an email to the Washington Examiner, said despite the fact that a lot of people liked the mural, she offered to assist in removing or changing the piece due to some feedback on Instagram @muckrock. ....
