CPBL representatives on Tuesday met with officials of the Kaohsiung City Government to discuss the potential launch of the professional baseball league’s much-anticipated sixth team.
CPBL commissioner John Wu (吳志揚) told Kaohsiung Mayor Chen Chi-mai (陳其邁) that he hoped a team could be formed in Kaohsiung by the middle of next season, which is to start on March 31. ....

Taipei, Dec. 24 (CNA) Three checkpoint areas will be set up at entrances to the New Year s Eve party in Taipei to ensure all attendees wear face masks, the city s Department of Information and Tourism announced Thursday.
According to the department, people attending the event at Taipei City Hall Plaza will also need to have their temperatures taken and register their names and ID card number. They will also be required to sanitize their hands before being allowed through one of the three entrances. ....

Taipei, Dec. 24 (CNA) Three of the six year-end concerts scheduled by the Taiwanese pop band Mayday have been postponed to early January next year, following confirmation of the nation s first domestic case of COVID-19 in eight months, the band s record company said Thursday.
The other three performances, however, will be held as planned on Dec. 31, Jan. 1 and Jan. 2, at Taoyuan International Baseball Stadium, B in Music said.
The Mayday shows that were scheduled for Dec. 25, 26 and 27 will now be held on Jan. 8, 9 and 10, respectively, following the confirmation Tuesday of Taiwan s first domestic case COVID-19 since April 12, B in Music said in a Facebook post. ....

The Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport MRT line is to offer 41 hours of non-stop service from Dec. 31 to Jan. 1 so that crowds of revelers expected to attend a New Year’s Eve celebration held by the Taoyuan City Government can return home safely, Taoyuan Metro Corp announced on Friday.
The Taoyuan airport line is to operate from 6am on Dec. 31 to 11pm on Jan. 1, the company said, adding that the extended service also aims to cut down on traffic congestion.
On New Year’s Eve, the city government is holding a celebration, titled “Wonderland,” at the High Speed Rail’s Taoyuan Station Plaza, only one minute’s walk from the Taoyuan HSR Station on the airport line. ....

Taipei, Dec. 11 (CNA) Taoyuan Airport MRT will operate a 41-hour non-stop service from Dec. 31 to Jan. 1, 2021, to transport crowds of revelers expected to partake in a city government-held New Year s Eve celebration, the Taoyuan Metro Corporation announced on Friday.
To help get New Year s Eve revelers home and prevent possible traffic congestion, Taoyuan Airport MRT will operate the non-stop commuter service from 6 a.m. on Dec. 31 to 11:00 p.m. on Jan. 1, 2021, the corporation said.
On Dec. 31, Taoyuan City government will hold a New Year s Eve party, titled Wonderland, at the High Speed Rail s Taoyuan Station Plaza, which is only a one minute walk away from one of the stations on the Taoyuan Airport MRT line, called Taoyuan HSR Station. ....
