Photo by Hank Layton | Daily Mail The preliminary round of the 17th annual Vernon County Youth Fair Super Teen Contest took place Monday night inside the Fairgrounds Show Pavilion, with four teams advancing to Tuesdays finals for the chance to win prizes most notably the coveted title of Super Teen 2021. Much to the delight of family and friends in attendance, 40 area teenagers comprised 10 teams that competed in various individual and paired events, as well as a four-person land ski competition to cap off the night, in hopes of tabulating enough points to move on to the next days obstacle course. ....
Friday, April 9, 2021 Hank Layton | Daily Mail Sports Reporter The Bronaugh High School baseball team followed up its first win since 2016 with an 8-4 loss at Hume on Monday. The Wildcats (1-1), who smoked Sheldon in the season-opener last week for the programs first victory in five years, found themselves in an 8-0 deficit after four innings against the Hornets (2-2) not helped by the fact they stranded seven runners in the first two innings. Bronaugh had the bases loaded with one out in the second inning, but failed to capitalize. The Wildcats finally got on the board in the top of the fifth thanks to a sacrifice fly by sophomore Tanner Wait that scored senior Logan Rainey. They strung together some hits again in the seventh, but the comeback ultimately fell short. ....
