It is so hot that those who want a new bike or need one fixed are being burned by a most difficult supply chain. âWe canât get bikes,â said David Poe, co-owner with his wife, Lori, of the Tandem Connection on the Montour Trail in Cecil Township. âThe (COVID-19) pandemic changed the entire supply chain. âThey allocate bicycles as they see fit. Itâs made things very difficult.â Tandem Connection sells, rents and repairs bikes. It also serves ice cream and, refreshments, and Nobbyâs Subs and sandwiches. ....
Food drives on Montour Trail Food drives benefiting the Greater Pittsburgh Food Bank and Greater Washington County Food Bank are scheduled on the Montour Trail. Donations of nonperishable food items, paper products, household and hygiene items will be taken. Monetary donations are not accepted, nor are glass containers. Throughout his life, Bennett Huibregtse fought courageously against a series of medical challenges. âBut one thing that we always noticed, and everybody close to him and people who met him, is that he always met every challenge with a smile,â his mother, Kristin, recalled. âAnd so when Bennett was passing away, we made a promise to him that we would show the world how to smile as big as he did.â Kristin Huibregtse is appropriately attired for the 2019 Belmont Jewel furndraising event on behalf of Horses With Hope, the nonprofit organizaiton for which she serves as board president. The promise has become Always B (for Bennett) Smiling, the nonprofit organization established by Kristin and Dean Huibregtse of South Fayette Township Dec. 11, what would have been their sonâs 17th birthday. ....
