Head-on crash injures four in Prospect

PROSPECT Four people were injured in a head-on crash Sunday night on New Haven Road. Police said a juvenile, whose name and age weren’t released, was driving a 2011 Ford Fusion SE north on New Haven Road at about 11:30 p.m. when the car swerved into the southbound lane and crashed head-on with a 2010 Honda Accord EX near the intersection of Talmadge Hill Road. Police said the driver of the Honda, Shamari Evans, 23, of West Haven, and two passengers in the car, Ashely Alize Diaz, 21, and Eddy Valdez Jr., 20, suffered suspected serious injuries. They were taken to hospitals in Waterbury for treatment.

Parking Officials Vote 4-0 To Recommend Keeping Permit Fees Flat

Center School Lot   Commission Chair Keith Richey and members Peter Ogilvie, Laura Budd and Jennifer Donovan voted 4-0 in favor of the recommendations. The Commission has one open seat. Regarding fees at the commuter lots, Richey said the town should “leave it alone in view of the recovery from the COVID crisis.” As it is, the town has already extended the parking permits for those lots Lumberyard, Richmond Hill and Talmadge Hill through March 31 and also suspended metered parking in those lots through month’s end. (The selectmen are expected to take up the question of whether to continue those extensions through June 30.)
