Survey shows 84% do not hold 'one China' view

More than 80 percent of people agree that Taiwan and China are not subordinate to each other, a survey released by the Mainland Affairs Council (MAC) yesterday showed.
The survey reported that 82.2 percent of respondents supported the statement: “The Republic of China (Taiwan) and China are not subordinate to each other, which is the objective reality across the Taiwan Strait,” while more than 90 percent opposed China sending military aircraft and warships to conduct drills near Taiwan.
The survey also showed that 83.6 percent disagree with Beijing’s claim that “Taiwan is an inseparable part of China,” as well as its assertion ....

Drivers evade payment in protest: poll

Most drivers with outstanding freeway toll fees did not pay their bills because they forgot or did so in protest against the freeway Electronic Toll Collection (ETC) system, a National Freeway Bureau survey showed.
The system was implemented in December 2013, billing drivers automatically per kilometer traveled on freeways. Since then, outstanding bills have accumulated to more than NT$800 million (US$28.54 million).
The bureau had tasked Taiwan Real Survey Co to find out why drivers do not pay toll fees and if they know the legal consequences.
