Lebanon County lawyer charged with planned murder of Senate members receives trial for April, no bail

County resident Kenelm L. Shirk was indicted by a federal grand jury on Feb. 3 after he was found driving to Washington D.C. with the alleged intent to murder U.S. Senators.
Shirk was arrested and charged by the Pennsylvania State Police on Jan. 21 after he was found en route to Washington D.C. with an AR-15 rifle, two handguns, rope, and ammunition. Shirk plead not guilty in his initial appearance before Magistrate Judge Susan E. Schwab on Feb. 9 and now awaits an April 5 trial without bail.
Shirk lives in Lebanon County near Cornwall but works as an attorney in Ephrata, Lancaster County. He is 71 years old. ....

A central Pennsylvania lawyer accused of threatening to kill Democratic members of the U.S. Senate has pleaded not guilty to the federal criminal charges lodged against him.
Acting U.S. Attorney Bruce Brandler said Wednesday that Kenelm L. Shirk, 71, of Cornwall, Lebanon County, entered that plea during his initial appearance before U.S. Middle District Magistrate Judge Susan E. Schwab.
It is standard practice in the federal courts for defendants to plead not guilty this early in their cases. ....

A central Pennsylvania lawyer accused of threatening to kill Democratic members of the U.S. Senate has pleaded not guilty to the federal criminal charges lodged against him.
Acting U.S. Attorney Bruce Brandler said Wednesday that Kenelm L. Shirk, 71, of Cornwall, Lebanon County, entered that plea during his initial appearance before U.S. Middle District Magistrate Judge Susan E. Schwab.

A Harrisburg man accused of stealing from a local bank this week previously robbed at least 10 others and tried to win big money by claiming to be a victim of Jerry Sandusky and the Catholic church.
Shamont Lyle Sapp, 57, was faced with his latest robbery charges Tuesday after Lower Paxton Township police said he fled with cash from the M&T Bank in the 4900 block of Jonestown Road after threatening a teller.
This is far from the first time Sapp has been accused of using illegal or questionable methods to make money, according to authorities and court records. At one point, he filed a lawsuit against Jamie Foxx and Tyler Perry because he said they stole an idea from him for a movie called “Skank Robbers.” ....
