Beaufort Memorial Hospital said it has implemented visitor restrictions because of “the recent increase in community spread of COVID-19.”
The hospital said in a news release the restrictions and safety measures went into effect Thursday “to protect patients, staff and visitors.”
COVID-19 cases have been on the rise with the spread of the more-contagious delta variant and as vaccination rates have leveled off. There were 173 new cases reported in Beaufort County in the week ending July 25, up from 76 the previous week. Jasper County had 26 new cases, after 14 were reported the previous week.
