Watch: The Whangārei District Council voted to withdraw from the Government s controversial plan to reform the country s water infrastructure.
The Government is proposing to establish four publicly-owned entities to take responsibility for drinking water, wastewater and stormwater infrastructure to stop average household bills reaching $9000 by 2051.
A report by the Water Industry Commission for Scotland estimates that New Zealand will need to invest between $120 billion to $185 billion on water infrastructure over the next 30 years to meet standards and provide for future population growth.  ....

Watch: A video of a man driving from the passenger seat has sparked a police warning.
Footage of an Auckland man driving from the passenger seat of his car has sparked a police warning. 
The video, which was posted to a community Facebook page on Thursday, shows a man sitting in the passenger seat of his car and leaning over to steer.  
Newshub understands the incident occurred in the west Auckland suburb of Massey. 
In the footage, the man can be heard asking where s my driver gone? and complaining he s been disqualified from driving.  ....
