A Sunshine Coast ironman legend and his business partners want to turn one of the last pieces of vacant land at Kunda Park into a bustling industrial hub.
The council issued a show cause notice in September last year to the building s body corporate for breaching short-term letting restrictions by acting as an unapproved hotel. Direct Rentals has applied with the council to turn 23 units in the 72-unit building into short-term accommodation. However in a letter dated February 12, the council advised that the application had not been properly made and required written consent of the body corporate. Direct Rentals director Adam Thomas said his company s town planner had requested and been granted a 20-day extension. He said the extension was to allow the council to consider the reply tendered by Direct Hotels last Thursday.
In 2017, the council approved a 96-bed care facility on the 8.3 hectare site, later adding a pool, hairdressing salon, cafe and offices. Now further expansion is on the horizon with Churches of Christ in Queensland proposing a complementary development to the existing residential care facility on 211 Parklands Boulevard, Little Mountain. There would be three new buildings and a men s shed should the proposal be successful, with the construction to be delivered in several stages. The first building would consist of 32 one-bedroom units and eight two-bedroom units. There would also be eight one-bedroom units and two two-bedroom units as a residential care facility.
