The evacuation alert applies to all properties within the boundaries of the Sun Peaks Mountain Resort Municipality. The municipality said residents will be given as much advance notice as possible prior to an evacuation order, but added that residents may receive limited notice due to changing conditions. If an evacuation was ordered, residents are to take Sun Peaks Road to Heffley Louis Creek Road to Kamloops. If conditions necessitate a change in that plan, a second evacuation route is available via the McGillivary Lake Forestry Road.

SUN PEAKS An evacuation alert has been issued by Sun Peaks Mountain Resort Municipality for all properties within its boundaries.
The alert is due to the Embleton Mountain Wildfire west of Whitecroft and its potential effect on the community’s safety.
Residents will be given as much advance notice as possible prior to evacuation, although they may receive limited notice due to changing conditions.
Residents are asked to prepare to evacuate using Sun Peaks Road to Heffley Louis Creek Road towards Kamloops. If this changes, a second evacuation route is available via the McGillivary Lake Forestry Road.

A total of 12 evacuation alerts and nine evacuation orders are in place for the region that is home to the village of Lytton, which was nearly destroyed by a fast-spreading fire on June 30. Right now the fire is a potential threat to the access road, Sun Peaks Mayor Al Raine told CBC News.
