SOUTH EUCLID, Ohio Attention residents who park cars on their lawns being ticketed for this offense could cost you a lot more money than it has in the past.
City Council’s Legislative Committee held a virtual meeting Monday (Feb. 8), during which the main topic was how to limit the number of residents who park on their lawns, in the front or back yard, and who, while parking in a driveway, block sidewalk access. Housing Manager Sally Martin and South Euclid Police Chief Kevin Nietert brought the issue to council’s attention. ....

Recovered stolen vehicle: Beta Drive
A stolen vehicle was located unoccupied and locked in the Hilton Garden Inn parking lot around 12:15 a.m. Jan. 31. It had been reported stolen out of a city in Michigan. Police from that jurisdiction and the owner of the vehicle were notified. The staff believed it had been in the parking lot for about a week. The vehicle was towed, and police are investigating the matter.
Disturbance: Aintree Park Drive
Officers responded to an apartment at 1:40 a.m. Feb. 1 for a report of a disturbance called in anonymously. They learned loud noises from the apartment came from the residents moving furniture in preparation of a move from the building. They were warned they could be cited for disturbing the peace if further complaints were received. ....

Woman arrested while walking from Giant Eagle after stealing $80 worth of diapers: Lyndhurst police blotter
LYNDHURST, Ohio Theft: Cedar Road
At 12:35 p.m. Jan. 20, police were called to Giant Eagle, 25105 Cedar Road at Legacy Village, where a woman had walked out of the store with a cart full of diapers for which she had not paid.
The woman was last seen walking northbound on Richmond Road. It was thought she may have just been released from a hospital as she had a hospital band on her wrist. Police located the woman, 32, of Cleveland, and took her back to the store where the stolen goods were returned. The woman stole diapers worth a total of $80.70. ....

SOUTH EUCLID, Ohio Local poet Jim Lawless has drawn upon a cache of 1,500 poems he has written over the past 50 years to compile his latest book of poetry his first in six years titled “Family.”
While his first two poetry books covered an array of topics, this time out Lawless has selected works based on his favorite subject, as the title plainly states his family.
Known to some as president of the South Euclid Commission on Aging, Lawless, a 40-year resident of the city, spent his career writing about a variety of things. He covered energy and the environment, housing, transportation, politics and a host of other subjects while reporting for The Plain Dealer from 1978 to 2005. ....
