In Saudi Arabia, any resident signing up for mobile phone service is probably doing so through stc, the preeminent provider in the country and a formidable player throughout the Middle East. Group CEO Nasser Bin Sulaiman Al-Nasser, who is stepping down in March 2021, has led the company through the pandemic, when traffic on the stc network suddenly increased far beyond precrisis forecasts. RIYADH: Saudi Telecom launched a vast digital operations center on Monday to boost the Kingdom’s cyber defenses as it rolls out super-fast broadband. It is the largest facility of its kind in the Middle East and North Africa, the Saudi Press Agency reported. The center will have a capacity exceeding 8.4 terabits per second (tbps), and will be linked to more than 4 submarine cables, used for the first time in the region. “The center will strengthen the Saudi position as a leading regional center for business HUB, and represents a basic building block for the company to be a regional center with a system of digital services in MENA,” Saudi Telecom CEO Nasser Sulaiman Al-Nasser said. ....

STC’s net profit for the fourth quarter (Q4) of 2020 reached SR2.68 billion ($714 million), an increase of 15.6 percent compared to the corresponding quarter last year. For the 12-month period of 2020, the net profit reached SR11.08 billion, an increase of 3.94 percent. The revenues for Q4 reached SR15.21 billion an increase of 14.69 percent compared to the corresponding quarter last year. For the 12-month period of 2020, the revenues reached SR58.94 billion, an increase of 8.43 percent. The gross profit for Q4 reached SR8.48 billion, an increase of 1.54 percent compared to the corresponding quarter last year. For the 12-month period of 2020, the gross profit reached SR33.99 billion, an increase of 4.96 percent. ....
