The kyburz fire started yesterday afternoon in the El Dorado National forest closing a major link to lake tahoe. The wragg fire has been burke for nearly two days in napa and yolo counties. Heres a look at where its burning on the Southeast Side of Lake Berryessa west of the town of winters. Anne makovec is at a cal fire staging area in vacaville. Good morning. Reporter they just moved the command post here to vacaville because this fire has been moving to the south. The good news is that it has been moving away from a lot of the homes that have been threatened. So far, though, the fire has burned about 10. 5 square miles. Neighborhood the Golden Bear Community last evening. The fire burning away from those homes thanks to calmer winds yesterday. Its in a remote area. The terrain is so rugged fire crews are not going to bring in heavy equipment and they have to build containment lines by hand. We dont have to worry about homes threatened but its going to be ugly terrain trying to get in there. Reporter mandatory evacuations are still in effect for the quail ridge and the canyon creek area. The red cross has an Evacuation Center set up at the Winters Community center. We stayed until, um, the flames were out the back window. They were 30 feet tall at that point. Thats when i decided, we need to go. Reporter there is a large animal Evacuation Center as well located nearby. Theres a lot of ranches in this area with cows, horses, you name it.
