Reporter they just moved the command post here to vacaville because this fire has been moving to the south. The good news is that it has been moving away from a lot of the homes that have been threatened. So far, though, the fire has burned about 10. 5 square miles. Here are the numbers. 6900 acres have burned. It is now 15 contained. 1372 firefighters are work to put this out. Cal fire did lift mandatory evacuation orders for the Golden Bear Community last evening. The fire now burning away from those homes, thanks to calmer winds yesterday in a remote area. The terrain is so rugged, fire crews cannot bring heavy equipment in and have to make containment lines by hand. Its going to be ugly trying to get in there. Reporter one outbuilding burned down, another building damaged. Mandatory evacuations in effect for quail ridge and canyon creek areas. The red cross has an Evacuation Center at the Winters Community center. We stayed until the flames were out the back window. They were 30 feet tall at that point. Thats when i decided we need to go. Reporter theres also a large animal Evacuation Center located nearby. A lot of ranches up in the area, people with cows, horses, you name it. As for the cause of this fire, its still under investigation. Early signs point to it starting from a vehicle accident. Live in vacaville, anne makevoc, kpix 5. To the east now, a wildfire burning in the sierra has forced the closure of highway 50 in both directions. The highway is closed right now from Pollock Pines all the way into meyers. The flames broke out near kyburz in the whitehall area off the American River inside the El Dorado National forest. The fire is about 100 acres only 5 contained. A Passenger Car captured this picture after flames broke out at 2 p. M. Yesterday. Reporter there have been a number of trouble spots along the way with firefighters. One area they are focusing on are these power lines. You can see that power line intact. But if you make wear down this hill, actually somebodys driveway, just yards away, you can see these flames shooting up covering the trees inching closer to the power lines. More than 200 firefighters are battling the flames from both the ground and the air. Steep terrain and stron winds are making it more difficult. Some campgrounds have been evacuated. The firefighters will be watching the weather today, roberta. In all areas. We are primarily looking at the Lake Berryessa area because we have had wind gusts up to 28 miles an hour overnight. This morning the winds will blow out of the west at 20 Miles Per Hour. This is what we have in the forecast for the wragg fire today. The winds pretty much up to 20 all day, the relative humidity down to 35 . High temperatures up to about 86 degrees. We are going to keep a watchful eye on that because the weather pattern is just heating up. Right now, 50s and 60s out the door and later today, we are talking about numbers stacking up in the 70s and 80s around the peninsula, 858 in morgan hill. Yes, warmer today than what it was yesterday. 86 degrees in brentwood and pretty much around the 80s across the suisun bay. 65 in Stinson Beach. Well have the clearing of the skies.
