Significant. Is there is a relatively High Percentage as we know, of lgbt youth who have contemplated suicide. The number of seniors and i think that the report actually states in the last year, that have contemplated suicide, is almost equal to that number. And that is within the last year. And i think that what that demonstrates is a substantial and a tremendous sense of desperation and a lack of hope in this community and it is something that we need to look at immediately. Because for every month we dont look at these issues, we may lose more seniors and we may lose more individuals, who take their own lives. The other thing is come is cultural come pentcy and we have done a lot of work in the community in the various communities of various culture thes the Latino Community and the emensa community and others. Thirdly, some comments from my neighbors. And finally, what i feel is the role city and government officials in this situation. Okay. In terms of the purpose of accreditation, i used to be a muni driver, also a streetcar and bus instructor. And a couple of concepts that we have is what we call big picture and tunnel vision. So, the big picture is whats the purpose of accreditation . According to federal law, the purpose of accreditation is to guarantee or assure the quality of education for students who get federal money. Okay. And this is in the law. Its in section 60 2 of the 34 cfr, okay. Everything else that an accrediting agency
College because we want to directly address issues impacting equity, impacting lowincome, students of color to achieve and to help us overcome barriers that make us feel like its our fault. So, so, you know, when we can stand here and say there are some that there are lots of different issues that either exist or dont exist by people on different side, but no one can stand here and tell me students have access to wifi when they need it. There is no one that can stand here and tell me we didnt have issues with shared governance. That democracy has to be hard, but it doesnt have to be impossible. I really urge the community to come together in a real way and that if we actually truly love our college and our community that well be the number one critics of it and do everything we can to fix it.
