Published - 1 week By - PGA Media Christopher Wood has won the Abbot Point Operations Bowen Pro-Am by two strokes to kick-start his Hidden Valley Whitsundays North Queensland Series campaign. The Queenslander fired a spectacular round of 6-under 64 at the picturesque Bowen Golf Club to lead four players tied for second place in the first event of a series of four held on the adidas PGA Pro-Am Series. The field of 24 PGA Professionals was met with testing conditions and constant 30 kilometer an hour winds that created a challenge in shot making and smart play. In a round featuring seven birdies, an eagle and three bogeys Wood said his short game was what made the difference.

Rankin goes low to win City of Brisbane Pro-Am | PGA of Australia

Published - 3 days By - PGA Media Brett Rankin has carded a spectacular round of 10-under 55 at Victoria Park Golf Complex to win the Coca-Cola City of Brisbane Pro-Am. Hot scoring highlighted the opening event of the adidas PGA Pro-Am Series for season 2021/22 with players making the most of calm, overcast conditions. Rankin’s incredible round featured 12 birdies and a lone bogey for a two-stroke victory. “It is good to get a win early this year after what was a lean year in 2020,” Rankin said. Gavin Fairfax, Max McCardle, Steven Jeffress and Chris Wood each tied for second place with rounds of 8-under 57.

The tournament has been a wonderful kick-start as the first victory in a professional tournament for Brett Coletta (2016) and defending champion Anthony Quayle (2020).  This week, think Deyen Lawson, Dylan Perry, James Marchesani, Sunshine Coast local Shae Wools-Cobb, Players Series Sydney runner-up Charlie Dann or any number of hungry young golfers.   Coletta reinforced how good the pathways are to polish the skills of our best young players in Australia by winning as an amateur.
