the three races likely to be in that recount will begin recounting almost immediately. they ll have until wednesday. the ballots that are in dispute, will be set aside. they will then recount where we are on wednesday and if races are still under a quarter of a point, the canvassing boards will go back and inspect each one of those ballots set aside and by the end of the week we ll have a result. steve, is there a way to decipher which of the two approaches is the more accurate? is it by machine or is it by hand because you have to allow for human error. we ll talk about millions and millions of ballots like this. what s your sense of that? reporter: that s the reason we have this secondary recount. when you get down to those really small margins and the senate race is close, its .04%
week, huh? it is a remind near critical systems, like the emergency notification system, like our missile defense, are not up to the task of dealing with these threats. so i think that the president should weigh in. he should have weighed in already, and i also hope that leaders in congress, republicans and democrats, will come together to address these gaping holes in our response. steve, what did you make of it? it may cause folks in washington to take this threat more seriously. what did you think when that alert went out? it is a company tear in how dysfunctional this is. i hope we can put politics aside and figure out what happened and make sure it never happens again. michael, a quote here, let me read the lead to the story. a lawyer for president trump

all? they are challenging seats that hillary clinton won in 2016 but previously uncontested states that were red. no, i don t think they are overconfident. i mean, the democrats have a lot of momentum. the tax bill that passed was done so without any hearings, without any kind of democrat involvement. and the democrats are going to and republicans have to overcome the fact that for most americans, they believe that the tax bill was a bill that favors the rich and was really, did it on the backs of the working class people. so the republicans in a number of districts around the state have to fight that sentiment. so democrats have a lot of momentum. and voter turnout always matters. we saw what happened in alabama where you have what is traditionally a red state and still a democrat was elected to the senate. so turnout matters. and it s going to matter in this cycle. joe watkins, steve shale, pleasure to have you both on this show. thank you for joining us. i want to bring in pat
ashen, and he became his mood went dark. that s when we knew. what can you share with us about what it was like on the inside that night? it s interesting, you know, the first signs of trouble were florida early in the night. and they see what s going on there, and in particular there were a couple of people, craig smith who is one of president clinton s oldest aides and allies, and steve shale is a long-time democratic operative in florida. kept calling people that they knew and saying, this doesn t look good, this doesn t look right. and ultimately they saw that they were going to lose in florida. and then the question was, is what we re seeing in florida, is the change in republican and democratic strength in some of these areas in florida, is that going to be extrapolated out to north carolina? will it be the same in parts of pennsylvania rural parts of pennsylvania, suburban parts of pennsylvania, wisconsin, there was a sinking feeling early on
