in terms of what it means politically the clinton campaign feels like if you don t like obamacare this won t help you like obamacare. this will give you another reason to say this is essentially in effective. they don t think there will be a huge political cost. in part because hillary clinton spent a fair amount of time talking about her plans to lower premiums, provide more subsidies. drive down costs. this is an issue she tackled. she wants to see some changes and improvements to it. if she takes questions from the traveling press that s part of the argument. if she s where you are in florida. yeah. wish you were with us down here. we ll see you in washington tomorrow. i m get on a plane in a few hours. of course. i figured. kristen welker thank you very much. joining us in tallahassee is steve shale, democratic
developing right now, vice president joe biden could be ready to reveal his plans for the 2016 presidential bid at any minute. he gave no notice today. he touted his work he disease with the republicans. i have a lot of republican friends, i don t think my chief enemy is the republican party. this is a matter of, you know, making things work. but despite his signature charm, only 30% of americans say biden should run for president, compare that to 38% who say biden should not run. this is according to our new nbc news poll. steve shale is a democratic strategist with the draft behind effort and former obama campaign advisor, good to see you. the new nbc news/wall street journal poll, it shows when biden is included among democratic voters, he only comes in at 15%, that s more than 34
it s obviously personal for him, either way he goes. i think if he says yes, one piece i am confident about is there ll be a good donor base there to support him. steve shale, nice to see you, and we all wait on pins and needles to find out whether he s in or out. me too, thomas. let s check in with francis, has been tracking the questions of the day about biden, what are we seeing. many are on pins and needles, we asked viewers and they ve been consistent when we asked ask has biden waited too long? 62% are saying yes, at the highest point, that was at 70%. about 15, 20 minutes ago, that changed to 64. know dropping now with the nose growing at 38% right now. when we look at this, especially, when it comes to realtime, a lot of fruxuation based on the last couple of minutes, but also interesting to see, political party, look at the democrats, may reflect our nbc poll we were talking about, it s kind of divided split with 30% saying it s too late, they
simultaneously that they like vice president biden almost more than any other public figure in the united states, let alone politicians, right? he s incredibly popular. but at the same time democrats in new hampshire don t want him to run. well, rachel, i m a democrat in north florida. so i m not daunted by much these days. i m used to a challenge. listen, a poll is a one snapshot in time. i mean, if you go back to this point in 2007, i think hillary clinton had nearly a 30-point average lead over barack obama in the polling. so meanwhile, people like you and i are living this stuff every single day. the reality is voters are just paying attention and if biden gets in the next few days or week or so he ll have a bump from that and there will be a forum in november, there will be a debate in november and we ll see where we are then. steve schale democratic strategist, adviser to the draft biden effort and a good sport for letting me badger on these issues. thank you, rachel. the
does decide to take the plunge, one of the first people to know will be my next guest. joining us now is steve shale. he s a democratic strategist and adviser to the draft biden effort. mr. shale, it s really nice to have you here. thanks for being here. thanks, rachel. good to be back. so just tell us. i know you know. just tell us. rachel, trust me, there s probably nobody on the earth that wants to know more than me. i ve been out here for two months beating the bushes trying to make the good case for the vice president. and i m ready to know myself. do you have a feeling about when it would be too late? obviously the first democratic debate has already happened. the internal dynamics among the candidates who are in the race are now sort of ripe. we know how those things are going to be playing out i think between some of the top-tier candidates. at what point is it too late either technically or just in terms of the dynamics of the race? well, i mean, really it doesn t ge
