Earth had a close encounter with a giant asteroid named as 2006 QQ23. Classified as “potentially hazardous†by NASA, asteroid 2006 QQ23 was reportedly bigger than the Empire State Building zip past the Earth on Saturday. Asteroid 2006 QQ23 could have hit with a force 500 times that of the atomic bomb dropped on Hiroshima.
An asteroid named Asteroid 2006 QQ23 as big as the size of the Empire State Building, is set to fly by Earth on August 10, 2019 and is labelled as “potentially hazardous†by NASA.
Earth has been often in the firing line of fragments of asteroids from the last few weeks. Just when we took a sigh of relief at not being hit by asteroid 2019 NJ2, reports started coming in from all corners that another giant space rock named Asteroid 2006 QQ23 may hit our planet next month. Amid this apprehension, the European Space Agency (ESA) asked planetarians not to panic as we are not getting hit by the asteroid this time as well.
