thanks very much for joining us this morning. very busy morning. i m jim acosta, our next our newsroom with wolf blitzer starts right now, have a great weekend i m wolf blitzer in washington, were following breaking news here are the cnn newsroom, the us supreme court is up holding a federal law that bans domestic abusers from owning a firearm. the major second amendment ruling was nearly unanimous 8-to-1 decision only justice clarence thomas dissented in the majority opinion. the chief justice, john roberts said, the court had no trouble upholding the law. arguing and once again, according our tradition of firearm regulation allows the government to disarm individuals who present a credible threat to the physical safety of others. close glug our chief legal affairs correspondent, paula reid is here with me in the z then newsroom. paula walk us through. this is a major decision by the supreme court. it is. it s one of the key decisions that we re watching in for this term

legislative language but plenty happening at the white house coming next week and they expect the president to try to sign something by christmas. sandra: these are not calm days leading up to christmas, that s for sure. conflicting reports about the departure of a key white house staffer yesterday. what can you tell us about omarosa s exit from the trump team? well, okay, first of all it was expected in a lot of ways. a number of people felt she would go her own way at the beginning of the year anyway. that said there was word of an ugly heated exchange with the chief of staff john kelly that ended with her attempting to speak to the president himself in the residence of the white house and being escorted off the grounds by secret service. here is her explanation. the assertion i would do that in front of 600 guests at a christmas party and no one has reported that except for one individual who has a personal vendetta against me. so i have to tell you completely false, unverifie
this? we re hearing it from mostly supporters, a lot of the volunteers who have been involved with the race, people who are on social media and who have been reactive in kind of pushing their message and agenda. there was a staffer yesterday who is close to mcdaniel who lashed out on twitter. he eventually deleted that tweet and sent out a press release where he explained his rilgsship with mayfield. didn t apologize for what he said. the gist of it and it s gotten uglier and uglier, the police mishandled the way they arrested him and the district attorney you know came up with bogus charges or the bond was set too high. and you know, that the cochran campaign and supporters made political hay out of something they shouldn t have. the blame is being put out
