A Missouri state representative has been indicted by a federal grand jury for her part in a fraudulent scheme where patients were allegedly administered with COVID-19 treatments that were falsely claimed as containing stem cells.
Dr Patricia Derges, a family medicine specialist and Republican lawmaker, offered her clients from Ozark Valley Medical Clinic, Missouri, amniotic fluid, which she claimed to contain stem cells, with the promise of helping an array of medical issues ranging from Lyme disease, to erectile dysfunction, to potentially curing COVID-19. The scheme was run within the clinic from December 2018 to May 2020. ....

A Missouri state representative was charged in a 20-count indictment that alleged she fraudulently administered treatments, including for Covid-19, that falsely claimed to have stem cells.
Patricia Ashton Derges, 63, allegedly gave so-called “regenerative” treatments to clients who came to the Ozark Valley Medical Clinic looking for treatment for various illnesses, according to a grand jury indictment unsealed Monday.
The clinic offered its patients amniotic fluid that claimed to have stem cells, but in fact was acellular, without stem cells.
After Derges made false claims on a Springfield television station in April that stem cells could treat Covid-19, an investigation was launched, the FBI said in a statement on Monday. ....

A Missouri state representative was indicted after she allegedly falsely claimed a treatment she was marketing contained stem cells that could treat COVID-19 and other diseases.
Patricia Derges, a Republican from Nixa, Missouri, was charged with eight counts of wire fraud, 10 counts of distributing Oxycodone and Adderall over the internet and two counts of making false statements to federal agents.
