The new infections comprised 91.36 percent Malaysians and 8.64 percent non-citizens.
The number of active Covid-19 cases (individuals under treatment) is continuing on an upward trend after a recent low on April 7 as the number of new cases continues to outpace the number of people who have recovered.
The number of patients needing intensive care is also growing. It is now at levels not seen since Feb 15.

Covid: 27 schools in Johor closed

JOHOR BAHRU: A total of 27 schools in Johor had to be closed after Covid-19 positive cases were detected among staff, pupils and students.
The closure involves 10 religious schools and 17 primary, secondary and vernacular schools.
State Education, Information, Heritage and Culture Committee chairman Mazlan Bujang said all 17 schools under the Education Ministry had been closed in stages over the past three days.
“The one-week closure is to allow all quarters involved to undergo Covid-19 screening and to give way for the sanitisation process.
“The public doesn’t have to worry because the situation is still under control,” he told Bernama, when contacted, today. ....
