Square Knot Brewing finds new home in Canandaigua

Square Knot Brewing finds new home in Canandaigua Clarification: This story has been updated and clarified to reflect the purchase of the Three Huskies location. CANANDAIGUA – Square Knot Brewing Co. may soon have a new home.  Owners Nate Crane and Paul Newhook, former Canandaigua volunteer firefighters and friends, are purchasing the current Three Huskies Brewing location on Lakeshore Drive along with the people behind Clarky’s Twisted Sauce.  The deal was finalized Tuesday. Crane said he has no exact date, but they are hoping to open soon. Square Knot will continue operating at its present site for the time being, according to a post on its website.

A stoutstanding idea to brew up business in Canandaigua: Murphy

CANANDAIGUA Picture big white fluffy snowflakes falling from the sky.  While cold, it’s not that deep-in-the-bones stay-in-the-house-under-the-covers-until-May frigid cold that a warm coat, hat and gloves (or perhaps the mittens in the Bernie Sanders inauguration memes that are making the rounds so hysterically on social media) won’t cure. But it helps to be sipping a big-bodied stout by a firepit to help cut the bite of winter’s cold.  Stouts, according to David D’Allesandro, who with wife Meagan owns Frequentem Brewery in Canandaigua, are a really cool style for these months. “In the winter, people want big red wines, they want bourbon or whiskey to warm them up,” D’Allesandro said. “And the big roasty character of stouts l think lends itself really nicely to colder months.”

Eat, Drink and Be Murphy: Up, down, and back up again in 2020 for Square Knot

MPNnow CANANDAIGUA As the saying goes, if it’s not one thing, it’s another and it’s enough to make you want to drink. Back in January 2019, Nate Crane and Paul Newhook, former Canandaigua volunteer firefighters and friends, got the ball rolling on the purchase of the former Peacemaker Brewing site on Pleasant Street for their Square Knot Brewing Co.  So far, so good. Square Knot, by the way, is a symbol in freemasonry, of which both are members. The knot also is symbolic in that Newhook, who is a career firefighter in the Albany area, is a member of a rope rescue team.
