Gusting just over 25 in d. C. Close to that in baltimore, annapolis, and joint base andrews. That is providing us with a little bit of a chill. The average High Temperature for this time of the year is 42 degrees. 54, morning we are 51 to continuing to rise another 10 degrees by later today into the mid 60s. We should hold there for the afternoon. Starting at 3 00 a. M. Afternoon, several hours of freezing rain and snow. So weather alerts from stormwatch 7 we want to get you out ahead of the storm. Winter weather advisory for the area. This kicks in midnight tonight through 6 00 p. M. Torment. The concerns are temperatures. We are lucky. We are turning cooler but so warm yesterday and mild today. The temperatures will drop from the 50s through the 40s and in the 30s overnight. When the precipitation begins after midnight, i think we will be in the midtoupper 30s. So far, so good. The Problems Develop early tomorrow morning. 4 00, 5 00, 6 00 and beyond. The colder air continues to move in from the north. At the same time the precipitation approaches from the west. We will have a wintry mix. May start as snow. Minor accumulations if any. Freezing rain and sleet for a good portion of the day. As we get through the afternoon and the evening hours it looks like areas should start to dry out a little bit. One neighbor who tried to help. I heard the kids crying. My daughter heard them. They said, help, help you know, couldnt save them. Couldnt save them. Reporter Robert Spencer lives across the street from where six children died in an Early Morning fire. He wanted to help, but the flames, the smoke, the heat were too intense. Im not nothing because i didnt save nobody. I felt helpless. Reporter the children who died range in age from 9 months to 11 years old. Three of their siblings and mom survived. To know they were woke and they were screaming and nobody could get to them, its hard. Reporter the fire broke out on Springwood Avenue just after mid night. The mom katy malone was home with her nine children. The dad was at work. Malone was able the get her 8 kwoeyearold daughter re two of her brothers who are four and five years old. Take a look at the pictures the nypd special operations short time ago. The initial 911 call according to Police Sources came in just before 8 00 last night with the caller reporting seeing a flash in the sky. Nypd harbor units recovered offshore. The nypd believes at this point, only one person was onboard this twoseater plane. They recovered debris including a wing, wheel and tail according to sources. Were told the plane was headed from philadelphia last night to maine. The faa is investigating. The nypd does plan to resume the search for more debris, anything else that might be left later this morning.
