Opposition from Southwest Licking Schools
The project has drawn strong opposition from the Southwest Licking Schools District, whose officials say the development could result in a spike in student enrollment that could trigger need of a new elementary school.
Residents in surrounding existing neighborhoods in Licking County, as well as in Violet Township in Fairfield County, have also expressed concerns about increased traffic, drainage and the impact on local schools, among other concerns.
Signs have lined roadsides for months urging opposition to the development in its denser form, which opponents say is inconsistent with the township’s comprehensive plan. ....
