That s a whole big swath of the country. it really is, two storms, one in the east, one in the west. the one in the west will actually affect us in the east on sunday. right when everybody is trying to get home. the real problems are northeast here, moved up into indianapolis, south of d.c. on i-95, very, very slow. book out to the west, trying to get over here, over to the sierra or the grapevine, an absolute headache with winds of 30 and some places 36 inches of snow, trying to get cleared out of the way with those road crews. there are your watches around warnings. across the east, it s all wind, chicago, 54 miles per hour, just to the south and into cleveland and detroit, also very, very windy today. so here s the story. we run away with the rain for tonight into tomorrow. then it s much better. so tomorrow is a pretty good day to travel if you haven t done it today. later on tonight, that s when we will begin to see the airports certainly slow down all the red spots going to hav ....
30 in greensboro for the freezing rain to continue. some of this is going to sneak up towards the washington, d.c., area with freezing rain and sleet towards the morning commute. it will more or less be south of d.c. i m not convinced it s going to make it to d.c. itself. as we go throughout the day today, stormy mess in the mid-atlantic. the rest of the country actually looks pretty nice. not too many issues. a mild day by your winter standards from minneapolis to chicago. maybe a few puddles for the first time in foufr. d.c. looking nice at 56. all that snow should be about melted by the time we end saturday. if not, by sunday at 51. the only bad news i have is that the middle of next week, this is not a forecast. just one of our computer models. the white and the pink shows you where snow could be. the possibility of another snowstorm moving across the country and possibly through the northeast. that will be wednesday, thursday. we have a little bit of time. let s enjoy the weeken ....
Ha! the last two years, you guys had no snow at all. you went three years with nothing. a shock to your system. yes, it has been. maybe 25 inches by the time this one is said and done. this is pre this storm. yeah. going over the two-foot mark. yeah, a big deal in d.c., i don t know four times to shut down the government, but a couple of times. as far as what we re dealing with, the heavier snows have shifted south of d.c. they re getting ready for heavy snow in the richmond area. amazing it s snowing in richmond. it was 71 degrees, and sunny and warm. people were getting sunburned. and now snowing and 3 to 6 inches. when we re said and done, still 6 inches in the downtown d.c. area. new york didn t get hardly any. philadelphia about 2 to 4, and you re all done. chuck, the then to watch for tonight, this is going to be one of the coldest march nights ever in baltimore, philadelphia, and washington, d.c. tonight, we re going to be at 9 in d.c. if we got down to 5, you woul ....
Snow in the high country of western north carolina as well. even west of d.c. and south of d.c., still coming down, meaning problems for the roadways, especially as you make your way through salisbury, maryland, where it is still snowing pretty good right now. an additional 1 to 3 inches of snow can be expected across this region, and we are expecting another very cold night tonight. as tom costello just reported, temperatures down into the single digits in parts of the northeast. so, all the slush and even some of that rain that you had during the day across north carolina is going to flash freeze out there on the roadways. so, especially the bridges and the overpasses, that is where it s going to be very, very slick going into your morning commute tomorrow. but in all, we re talking an additional 1 to 3 inches where you re still getting the snow, but it looks like d.c. to philly to new york, things are winding down as we head through the next few hours. back to you, krystal. all ri ....
Area. also earlier today in virginia we were roving around all these areas. south of d.c. on the i-95 corridor we came across a stranded motorist. he had done a 180 off the road. edwin martinez in a small honda sedan. we were able to hook up our tow rope and get him out of that jam. fortunately he was able to go on his way. again, look at some of this, all these cars here even when your street might be plowed a little bit, you ve still got a lot of slush, heavy snow and a lot of these big berms to try to clear out from. ashleigh. all right, brian, thank you for that. the one thing i did want to show you is typically as a pedestrian city you see a lot of people walking to and from work or wherever they need to go. and then you see hillary salk, who just happened to be skiing by my camera position. did you need to be out or is this a pleasurable experience for you? very pleasurable. you were in central park for a ski. yes, that s it. you re soaking wet. that doesn t matter. i ....
